Fitted Vault for Art Treasures

In this one-of-a-kind project, an awkward, underutilized space was transformed into a stunning and highly functional vault — designed to house a collection of valuable art objects with both elegance and security.

Custom cabinets were built to make full use of the space, with an ingenious design that allows the entire cabinet assembly to swing open, revealing hidden storage for framed antique oil paintings. Deep drawers glide effortlessly on heavy-duty hardware, offering smooth access and ample space for delicate and precious items.

The visual centerpiece of the vault is a striking parquetry inlay — a geometric design inspired by the work of M.C. Escher. Made from a careful selection of contrasting woods, the pattern highlights the natural color and grain of each species, creating a dynamic surface that’s both decorative and deeply intentional.

This project is a perfect example of how form and function can coexist at the highest level — where every detail serves a purpose and every surface tells a story.
